John Matthews
John Matthews is a Global Vice President at SAP, who has spent 30 years in the technology industry, with the last 23 years at SAP. His roles have varied between individual contributor to leading a team of 50+ colleagues related to our Human Resources solutions. One of his first hires in 1998 was none other than Dr. Patti Fletcher, the sponsor of this series. Over the past year, John has focused on something very dear to him. His mother, Kathleen Matthews, died of lung cancer in 2011 and he promised her, and himself, that he would do more for all lung cancer patients. On August 24, 2017, with the support of SAP colleagues, family and friends, John is riding his bike from Philadelphia to San Francisco to raise awareness and money for lung cancer. He is fortunate to work for a company that values Corporate Social Responsibility and is fully supporting his 3,400-mile ride with planning the ride, communications, social media, videos and soon, an app so anyone can follow his progress.
