'Billy Boots' Buckman

Born in 1945 in the Texas town of Bogata, Billy was taught the proper use of guns as early as he can remember. His dad’s store sold toys and some sporting goods, so he enjoyed lots of toy guns then later BB guns. After the Daisy’s, Billy graduated to a .117 caliber Benjamin pellet gun and as the years went by, he slowly got initiated to Dad’s squirrel gun, a long barrel 12-gauge L. C. Smith hammer-gun.

Taking his first whitetail buck in 1969, it was the starting of a passion that still takes much of his time.

In 1978 Billy started shooting International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association (IHMSA) competition and hunting other game with different guns from the growing handgun arsenal.

In January of 2001, he and his wife Joyce began traveling to more shoots and other SASS type functions.

He is now a Life Member in the National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, Texas State Rifle Association, SASS, and IHMSA.
