Nancy Rekow

Nancy Rekow’s Bio, author Minnie Rose Lovgreen's Recipe for Raising Chickens Nancy Rekow grew up loving books & nature on a NJ farm. She majored in English, worked for NY publishers, lived & taught in England 2 years, then married & moved in 1963 to a farm on Bainbridge Island, WA. There she met English immigrant farmwoman Minnie Rose Lovgreen, a gifted storyteller who shared advice on raising chickens, plants & children (Nancy had 4). In 1975, when 86-year-old Minnie was stricken with cancer, Nancy tape-recorded her words, then hand-lettered & published Minnie Rose Lovgreen’s Recipe for Raising Chickens, a popular book with chicken-lovers everywhere, now in 3rd edition. Chickens are a gardener’s best friend by digging for bugs, eating weeds, fluffing the soil, and of course providing eggs. Since then Nancy has taught writing, published poems & various other books. But Minnie--whose dramatic life story Nancy & partner Everett Thompson publish --inspired it all! www.nwtrilliumpress.com
