Ginny Mason, Executive Director, Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Ginny is a registered nurse, diagnosed with stage IIIB inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) in 1994 at the age of 41. At that time she was working in an out-patient mental health clinic but has a varied nursing experience. Her breast cancer advocacy work started with local activities and has grown and expanded over time. In 1999 she began volunteering with the newly formed Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation while continuing to work full-time. In 2003, she left her hospital position to focus fulltime on advocacy. Later, in 2011 when the organization founder and president stepped down, she took over the administrative responsibility and research coordination for the non-profit. In addition, she is involved in the broader breast cancer and oncology community in a variety of roles bringing the patient voice and experience to research and practice.
