Christopher Somogyi
Chris is a Senior Vice President in the Investments Group with over 30 years’ experience in the commercialization of advanced technology. As a product engineer, he designed products and manufacturing processes, and managed R&D efforts to deliver medical devices to the market.
As an entrepreneur, he founded eight companies in fields including medical electronics, tissue engineering, and photonics. Many of these companies were spinouts from academic institutions including the University of Washington, Harvard, and Princeton. Chris has received six SBIR grants from federal agencies. As a venture capitalist with SRI’s captive fund, and with Japan-based Pacific Rim Ventures, Chris managed over $50 million in assets and led investments in numerous portfolio companies.
Chris holds degrees in biomedical engineering from Purdue and Tulane, and an MBA from the University of Washington. He is an inventor for 13 patents.
