Leon Tackitt

Leon is a 27-year, Navy veteran, enlisting in 1980 and volunteering to be an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in 1985. He finished his 27-year EOD career rising to senior chief petty officer and finally retiring as a lieutenant. With retirement, Leon found his passion for wine-making and wine grape growing. He and his wife, Cindy, founded Tackitt Family Vineyards in 2007 and have won more than 10 gold and silver medals and a prestigious San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Best of Class for Petite Syrah. In 2009, the Tackitts began fundraising for veterans and established the EOD Cellars label with part of the proceeds supporting the EOD Warrior Foundation. In addition, their vineyard hosts an annual fund raiser, Warriors Helping Warriors, inviting friends and family from across the U.S. to raise money for the EOD Warrior Foundation. In 2017 their efforts raised more than $44,000, and 2018 will mark their 7th annual event.
