Mary Hartley

Mary Anderson Hartley recently became project director for the Western Pennsylvania Disability History and Action Consortium. Previously, Mary served on the Executive Committee of the Consortium. During the last 5 years, she has designed and managed two major events, “From Wrongs to Rights” and “From Rights to Action,” which included the introduction of an electronic archive, a film, and materials acquired for Heinz History Center regarding the de-institutionalization of persons with developmental disabilities from state centers and the advocates that led that effort during the 1970s. Mary is a disability systems-change consultant working with multiple organizations. For the past 10 years she has engaged advocates and organizations to target the precise fix for broken policy and practice -- effectively solving issues through legislation, advocacy, and identifying and developing programs that work.
