I was sexually abused by a trusted parish priest starting at age 11. I immediately started using drugs and alcohol to cope with the abuse which kicked off a 32-year battle against addiction. When two friends of 40 years abused by the same priest as me died as a direct result of the abuse, I decided to get sober and try figure out a way to end the cycle of destruction through helping others who are struggling with sexual abuse. My hope is that my testimonial gives hope to those still suffering and show them there is a way to live a fulfilling life in spite of the abuse. I currently hold a national certification as a recovery coach and life coach and use every opportunity I can to advocate for victims of abuse.
