Rob Wainwright

Rob was brought up and educated at Glenalmond College in Perthshire, Scotland, then Cambridge University. Whilst studying medicine there at Magdalene College he gained Blues in both Boxing and Rugby, playing for the University Rugby Team in 3 Varsity Matches against Oxford. He went on to gain 37 caps for Scotland between 1992 and 1998. He captained the national side 16 times and in 1997 toured with the British & Irish Lions to South Africa. Meanwhile Rob pur-sued his medical career with the Royal Army Medical Corps, reaching the rank of Major. On leaving the Army and retiring from rugby, Rob and his wife Romayne decided on a change of scene, moving to the Isle of Coll in the Hebrides with their 4 children where they now run an extensive mixed livestock farm, and help out with the Fire Brigade, Coastguard, Community Council, the Coll Show, as well as enjoying not enough fishing, a bit of shooting and too much cycling.
