AnnE O'Neil
AnnE O'Neil is a Certified Grief Counselor, Spiritual Counselor, Interfaith Minister, and the author of If You Want the Rainbow, Welcome the Rain: A Memoir of Grief and Recovery. Her book looks at the impact of squelched grief and what is possible when grief is honored and transcended.
Raised in a family that had no room for grief, AnnE drank to cope with many early losses and was only able to begin her healing after she got sober. Years later, doing deep grief work after her husband's death allowed her to discover the joy that is possible when one stays clean and faces her deepest heartbreaks. Today, much of AnnE's work is in supporting people whose substance abuse has increased because of painful losses they have experienced and not grieved.
AnnE is also the creator of the grief recovery model HERE, which recognizes that grief is inherently a transformative experience. We will be changed by our losses. It is up to us to choose how we want that change to look.
