Marla Kilfoyle

Marla Kilfoyle has been a public school teacher for 30 years. She has worked in urban, rural, and suburban school districts in Maine, Florida, and New York. She is a National Board Certified Teacher. Marla is also the mother of a student with special needs. She is the former Executive Director of The Badass Teachers Association, a position she held for the first five years the organization was in existence. Among her accomplishments are co-author of an amicus brief filed in the U.S. Supreme Court for Friedrichs vs CTA, co-author of Chapter 17 in the book Resisting Reform: Reclaiming Public Education Through Grassroots Activism, she was also chosen as the first educator to be the Finklestein Memorial Lecturer at Adelphi University. Marla was honored by the NYS Assembly in 2012 as a Woman of Distinction. She has published over 50 articles defending public school teachers and has appeared on both T.V. and radio advocating for public school educators, children, and communities.
