Chief Alonza Jaynes

Alonzo Jaynes has twenty two (24) years of law enforcement experience. Additionally, he received his MBA from Pfeiffer University in 2010. Currently, he holds the position of Chief of Police in the Kinston Police Department. From 2014-2016 he held the position of Assistant Chief with the Chapel Hill Police Department. Before serving Chapel Hill, Alonzo was a captain with the Durham City Police Department. He proudly served the citizens of Durham for nineteen (19) years. Chief Jaynes worked seven (7) years in the Uniform Patrol Division, nine (9) years in the Criminal Investigation Division and two (2) years in the Internal Affairs Unit where he investigated a number of high profile homicides and managed the Criminal Investigation Division. He is a graduate of Northwestern University's Police Staff and Command Program (2016), as well as West Point's Leadership Program (2010). Chief Jaynes is a Certified General Instructor with an Advanced Certificate in law enforcement.
