Andrew Demsky was raised on the south shore of Long Island, New York, only a 10-minute drive from historic Belmont Park. He studied radio, television and film production in college, and became a production manager in Minor League Baseball. But the itch to work in horse racing was always prevalent, and, after four years, he accepted an entry-level position in the television department at both Tampa Bay Downs in Florida and Canterbury Park in Minnesota. While there, he produced “The Connections” web series, a show of interviews with horse trainers and jockeys. At Tampa Bay Downs and Canterbury, Andrew was given the opportunity to occasionally fill in as the television handicapper, giving out his race selections. In 2014, he was offered the position full time at Tampa and last season, was invited to join the team at Presque Isle Downs as their simulcast host. He co-hosts the pre-race show, “Handicapping Between the Lines,” presenting his selections before each race.
