Jill Demirci

Jill Demirci is a PhD-prepared nurse, IBCLC, and Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She began her career as a staff nurse on a mother-baby/postpartum unit, obtained her IBCLC in 2010, and worked as a lactation consultant in a pediatric primary care clinic for two years. For the past ten years, she’s been conducting research on breastfeeding practices in the U.S. and breastfeeding support interventions. Some of her past research has addressed breastfeeding issues in the late preterm infant population and breastfeeding communication and support in primary care. Her current research focuses on perceived insufficient milk supply, tech innovations in delivery of breastfeeding support, and antenatal milk expression. Her research has received NIH funding and has been published in numerous nursing and medical journals and presented at national and international conferences.
