Born in New York City & moved with my family to Fredericton, New Brunswick when I was six years old. Upon finishing high school, I attended the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration ( Dean’s list) & then completed an MBA degree (Honor Roll) at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon graduation, I moved to Calgary, Alberta in May 1978. My move from the East Coast to Calgary taught me that a person must make his own future & shape his own destiny. To sit & do nothing, life will pass you by. Over the years, the Calgary economy has experienced numerous “boom & bust cycles” of various durations & depths. The 80s Recession taught me a very valuable lesson. To that end, 31 years ago, I became a Tim Hortons Franchisee. Today, we own/operate three Tims restaurants. Tims is the largest coffee, baked goods & lite lunch “quick service” restaurant chains in Canada.
