Robert Kozinets (BBA, MBA, Ph.D.) is an academic who has developed qualitative research methods and social media theories that are currently used around the world. In 1995, in a study of fan utopian community, he discovered netnography. Since that time, he has also developed a videography film festival, developed methods for visual semiotic analysis, been one of the first scientists to write about social media influencers, wrote some of the earliest ethnography of Burning Man, and developed new theories about activism. He currently holds the Jayne and Hans Hufschmid Chair at the University of Southern California. He has also been an independent consultant for the past 32 years, consulting with over 300 companies worldwide, including , L'Oréal cosmetics, Sony Entertainment, American Express, Nissan Motors, Campbell Soup Company, and many others.
