Deborah Betts

Deborah (Debbie) Betts was awarded a B.S. degree from Towson University and a M.S. degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) from Loyola University of Maryland. She has dual certification as an SLP and IBCLC. She has demonstrated proficiencies in neonatal sucking and swallowing assessment and treatment, feeding treatment for babies born with cleft lip/palate, Down syndrome, and other childhood disorders. Additionally, she offers oral-motor treatment as a preemptive approach to frenectomy and to assure positive outcomes post-surgical to a frenectomy. She provides support for breastfeeding problems caused by hypotonia (low muscle tone), hypertonia (too much muscle tone), and neurological immaturity (sometimes seen in pre-term babies). Debbie is licensed and certified through NOMAS®. She is proud to work at Virginia Hospital Center as a lactation consultant and she sees families part time to provide private lactation services in the Bethesda and Olney areas.
