David Grabowski

David Grabowski, PhD. is a professor of health care policy in the Dept. of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School. His research areas of focus are the economics of aging, specifically long-term care and post acute care. Dr. Grabowski has been the Principal Investigator in five ROIs from the National Institute on Aging on projects such as: skilled nursing facility payment, demand for long-term care insurance, specialization in dementia care, and nonprofit provision of nursing home care.His research has been supported by a number of private foundations. Dr. Grabowski also led a team at Harvard in evaluation of the CMS Nursing Home Value-Based Purchasing Demonstration. He's a member of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), an independent agency to advise Congress on issues relating to the Medicare program and he's served on CMS technical expert panels. He recently testified before the House Ways & Means Committee and Subcommittee on COV19 in Nursing Homes.
