Amanda McDonough

Amanda McDonough was diagnosed with hearing loss at the age of 4. She hid her condition, and yet got straight A’s, had a successful child acting career, and lead a fairly normal life. During the most difficult part of her college career, she became completely deaf. She didn’t know sign language, could no longer speak well, and couldn’t lip read. She taught herself how to communicate again, and set out on a journey of self-discovery. Today, she has a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and Marketing Management, and resides in Los Angeles, California, enjoying inspirational speaking, acting and advocacy. Amanda’s recent acting credits include: ABC's "Speechless," NBC’s “Bad Judge,” "Our Town" with Tony nominated Deaf West Theater, and her films "Passengers," "Loud and Clear," and "Lady Electric" have won awards. She has a popular YouTube channel and partners with Accessibility Media and Pomona Proud to spread awareness with the public. Learn more at www.ReadyToBeHeard.com.
