Ann Hobson Pilot

After 40 years with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, legendary principal harpist Ann Hobson Pilot retired in 2009. With an extensive solo career performing with the world’s leading orchestras, she has CDs on Boston Records, Koch International & Denouement labels. In 1997 she traveled to South Africa to record a video documentary, “A Musical Journey”, sponsored by the Museum of African-American History & WGBH. The documentary “A Harpist’s Legacy, Ann Hobson Pilot and The Sound of Change” has also aired nationally on PBS. She received the “Golden Baton” from League of American Orchestras, two lifetime achievement awards, and honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degrees from Cleveland Institute of Music, Tufts & Bridgewater State College. Recently retired from faculties of the New England Conservatory of Music and Boston University, she continues as Director of BU Tanglewood Institute Young Artist’s Harp Program. Ann continues to perform solos with orchestras and chamber music with various groups.
