Juliette McClendon Ph.D

In this show, Dr. Juliette McClendon, Research Psychologist in the Women’s Health Sciences Division of the National Center for PTSD at VA Boston and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine, draws upon her expertise and research findings to discuss the impact of racism and discrimination on racial/ethnic health disparities. She will consider the role of Systemic Racism in obscuring these disparities, the role of intergenerational racial trauma in mental and physical health and the intersection of gender discrimination and racism on the health of women of Color. She will discuss possible intervention approaches to mitigate the impact of racism-related stress and trauma on the health of people of Color and implications for use during the pandemic.
