Drafted by the New York Giants in 1977 he played both wide receiver and fullback. After a year in Denver (1980) he concluded his 12-year career with the Chicago Bears as their starting tight end for 8 consecutive years in 1988. This long and highly successful athletic career included the Chicago Bear’s World Championship in Super Bowl XX. Emery was inducted into the Chicago land Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Emery finished his career as the second leading receiver for tight ends in Chicago Bears history behind Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka. Leading the Bears in receiving in 1982, grabbing the NFC’s longest pass in 1986 (86 yards), and making 8 receptions for 114 yards in 1985 against the Tampa Bay Bucs for a career best day highlights his career.
