Mara New

Mara New was born in Milan, Italy. Hailing from the Beltrami House of Fashion that was launched in the early 1900s, Mara's family began as tailors and shoemakers and evolved into clothing designers and manufacturers in the early 1920s. Today, the House of Beltrami is still active in Italy. Mara moved from Italy to France and then to Australia, where she graduated with a degree in architecture Then, she moved to Canada to join a new dance group and got sidetracked into radio with her own show. Mara married Ronald E. New in 1985. They have been happily married ever since. In 2004, she was named as "One of the Most Influential Women in LA,” On December 1, 2006, on the 70th Anniversary of the Southern California Motion Picture Council, she received the Golden Star Halo Award for her performance in the role of "Wife" in a play by A. R. Guerney She also believes in individual charities, touching people on an individual basis, and has helped people overseas as well as in the US. She eventually hopes to get involved with movements to ban horse carriages. Because of her limited time, caring for elderly parents and three sick dogs, she doesn’t have as much time to volunteer as she would like, so her contributions are mainly through charity events.
