Thomas Synan Jr.

Chief Thomas Synan is a United States Marine Corps veteran, a 10-year SWAT veteran and a 26-year police veteran. He is currently the Police Chief of the Newton Police Department in Ohio. In 2014, after watching the last of an entire family die from drugs, Chief Synan, along with members of the community, helped form the Hamilton County Heroin Coalition. He sits on the Steering Committee and Chair Interdiction where he coordinates with law enforcement to reduce supply and demand of drugs. His work in fighting the opiate epidemic has been recognized at the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington D.C. Additionally, he has spoken in front of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee and as a panelist for the Clinton foundation at Johns Hopkins University discussing the opioid crisis.
