Gene James was born in La Jolla but raised in small town Nebraska. After graduating from high school, I joined the United States Army at the age of 17. After a few years as an infantryman, I spent the remainder of my 20 year Army career with the U.S. Army Military Police Regiment with the majority of my assignments being in overseas locations. Upon retirement from the Army, I spent a career in major corporations directing and leading security, crime prevention and investigations. Concurrently, I also pursued a career in academia lecturing at the undergraduate level in Criminal Justice and at the graduate level in Security Management, Homeland Security and Leadership. My nonprofit experience includes President of Crimestoppers of San Diego County, Board Chair of a 501 (c) 3 organized within the San Diego Police Department known as STAR/PAL - a youth crime prevention and diversion program - and most recently as Board Chair of USO San Diego. Since 2016, I have been self employed as a security consultant and an expert witness on matters related to violent crime. I hold a BA Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Public Administration
