Kevin Stoodley
Kevin Stoodley is an IBM Fellow and the Chief Technical Officer for IBM Z. Kevin has substantial practical experience as CTO of a broad multi-billion-dollar portfolio of software and hardware products and technologies that span development, runtime, and operations. Kevin holds 39 patents across a range of technical areas. He has deep experience across a wide variety of hardware and software platforms from embedded systems to mainframe. Kevin is a strategic thinker tempered with a grounding in practicality. His recent focus has been on merging open source and cloud technologies with enterprise hardware and software to bring innovation, agility, and experience of the former to the qualities of service of the latter, creating compelling hybrid cloud technologies. He has extensive hands-on experience in developing compiler technology and leading and building teams to do the same. Kevin held previous CTO and technical roles at IBM including CTO for IBM’s Rational Software suite. He was appointed to the role of IBM Fellow, an executive position and IBM’s highest technical designation, in 2004 and is among the youngest to have achieved this honor in the history of the Fellow program. He has a master's degree in electrical engineering and an undergraduate degree in engineering science, both from the University of Toronto.
