Tracy Smith
Tracy Bennett Smith is President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Alabama and has dedicated her career to serving others. In her roles as seasoned nonprofit executive, consultant for businesses and nonprofits, and career coach for staff and colleagues, Tracy emphasizes a team approach leadership style. She is passionate about creating a culture of empowering and motivating her team and for more than 20+ years has led grassroots nonprofits, local nonprofits and national affiliations. In addition to Tracy’s non-profit career, she spent six years as a Communication Strategist consulting with nonprofits, small businesses and corporations on internal and external communication, strategic planning, and team building. She serves on Make-A-Wish America’s Strategic Planning Council, Audit and Finance Committee and COVID Reemergence Task Force, representing more than 58 chapters across the US. Tracy received her B.S. in Marketing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and also attended Auburn University where she met her husband of 32 years. They have two children (Bennett, a graduate of Auburn University who works in nonprofit with the American Heart Association and Catherine, a freshman at Eckerd College). Tracy was awarded Birmingham Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2006, Women To Watch in 2017 and was a finalist for Birmingham’s 2019 CEO of the Year.
