Jen McCarthy

Jen McCarthy originally began her career as an Interior Designer working in the residential construction business at the age of 19, gaining experience in drafting and designing various single & multi-family show homes in Lethbridge, Alberta. She eventually progressed through various roles including head of design, production manager and also operations manager. But it was during her maternity leave between 2015–2016 that her passion and vision were ignited towards a new venture in Tiny Homes. Her research highlighted there was a dire need for smaller, alternative housing options for various demographic groups across Canada and the United States. This led her to the conclusion that tiny homes are a viable option for many struggling to gain a foothold in the property market, because they are less expensive than traditional housing. Moreover they allow people to pay off loans faster by avoiding mortgages altogether, while reducing environmental impact. And it was this passion to help others facing an affordable housing crisis which became the main driver to use her background in design and operations management towards the creation of a tiny home building company in 2016. As President of Teacup Tiny Homes based in Lethbridge Alberta, Jen uses her out of the box thinking and “can-do” unorthodox style, to not only manage the day to day operations and general contracting of her business, but also pursue her vision of diversifying housing needs across Canada, the US and globally.
