Dave Thomas Foundation
The Foundation for Adoption is a national, nonprofit public charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for the more than 140,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems. Created by Wendy’s® founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and innovative grantmaking. Through its signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Foundation supports the hiring of adoption professionals who implement the Foundation’s evidence-based, child-focused recruitment model. This model has been proven up to three times more effective at serving youth who have been in foster care the longest, including teenagers, children with special needs and, siblings. More than 12,000 children now have loving homes and permanent families thanks to the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program and the Foundation’s generous donors.
