Shawanna Johnson

Shawanna L. Johnson is a native of Las Vegas.  She was valedictorian of Cheyenne High School, and was active in the school and local community.  Shawanna attended Harvard University, graduating cum laude in 2001 with a Bachelors in Economics.  After Harvard, Shawanna went to work on Wall Street for JPMorgan Chase as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Diversified Industrials, Retail, and Paper & Packaging Group.  In addition to her financial work at JPMorgan Chase, Shawanna also worked in finance for Bank of New York, Consolidated Resorts, Bally Gaming, and Sunterra Corporation.   After spending 4 years in finance, Shawanna returned to law school, attending Boston University School of Law.  Shawanna excelled at BUSL, and was very active in the BUSL community, serving as an editor for the Journal of Banking and Financial Law, and as President of the Black Law Students Association.  Shawanna was also the recipient of the Massachusetts Black Judges Book Prize, being named the Sylvia Bernacke Robinson Commencement Award, National Black Law Students Association Outstanding Student Award, BUSL Class Marshal.   Shawanna began her legal career at a mid-size Washington DC/New York firm, focusing on complex commercial litigation, white collar litigation and defense, and labor and employment litigation and counseling.  Shawanna represented a host of companies, organizations, and individual clients, and handled dozens of matters in state and federal court, arbitrations, mediations, and
