Richard Roberts

Richard Roberts is the Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer and the American Presence Officer for Northern Brazil at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia. He joined the Department of State in 2006 and has served at embassies in Niger, Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia and at the U.S. Consulate General in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. Prior to joining the Department of State, Richard taught psychology in Europe and Asia for the University of Maryland Global Campus. He graduated from the University of Maryland College Park and earned a Master of Arts from Connecticut College and a Ph.D. from the University of Memphis. Among Richard's publications are three books co-authored with Roger Kreuz about adult language learning, cross-cultural communication, and the relationship between language and aging.
