Matt Baron
Since getting his start as a 15-year-old newspaper reporter in the Boston suburbs, Matt Baron’s work has been syndicated nationally and has appeared in dozens of publications, including Time, USA Today and the Chicago Tribune. For a six-year period, he was one of the most prolific reporters for the Tribune, including 2004, when he wrote more than 350 stories ranging from local government coverage to business features to breaking news. In the process, Matt has developed not only strong media connections, but also a personal insight into how reporters, editors, producers and other media decision-makers think, their day-to-day challenges, and what draws them to one story idea over another. Since 2005, he has operated Inside Edge: Public Relations and Media Services, based in Oak Park, IL. Some of the nation’s most respected PR firms, including GolinHarris and Edelman, have retained his counsel for all-day training sessions on media crisis management and developing positive relations with the media. Matt is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where over the past decade he has been an occasional guest lecturer to graduate- and undergraduate-level class.
