Genovese’s personal experience through life’s grand rites of passage is applicable to anyone facing life’s obstacles. Genovese endured severe arthritis pain, brain surgeries, and recovery from countless other operations. Even puberty brought pain, forcing Genovese to accept the body of a woman when she had the height of a small child. Through the years she learned that maintaining the “pretty smile” to cover up her desire to be considered “normal” was her choice alone. She is the author of Nothing Short of Joy.
