At least half of us have experienced trauma, more commonly known as abuse, bullying or PTSD. We often avoid using the word trauma by labeling abusers as controlling, manipulative, angry or cold. Somehow these terms make the abusers actions acceptable. They are not. Whether abuse is emotional, psychological, physical, sexual or financial, it causes deep wounds. The most harmful wounds are emotional. When the trauma is occurring, most people are not able to process what's happening. They're just trying to survive.
