Historically the Black church has been a cornerstone of Black life. Not just for religious centering, but for social activism, educational opportunity, and what it means to be a community. But, generational conflicts, from a reaction to respectability politics to challenges to the church's approach to the rights of LGBTQ+ people and patriarchal traditions have made many turn away. This week, Dr. Monique Moultrie, Reverend Stanley A. Williams, III, and Pastor Cheryl Moore will discuss the way forward for the Black Church.
