July 7th 2005: Death of a Sibling with Elizabeth DeVita-Raeburn

In 1980, Ted DeVita, known to the world as "The Boy in the Bubble," died at age 17 from a rare immune deficiency disease. “The Empty Room: Surviving the Loss of a Brother or Sister at Any Age” is Elizabeth DeVita-Raeburn's unflinching, often haunting recollection of life with Ted, woven into a larger exploration of the enormous, and often unacknowledged, impact of a sister's or brother's death on remaining siblings. Elizabeth will talk about her own experience with sibling loss at age 14, as well as her interviews with 77 bereaved siblings.
