Riverkeeper Fred Tutman speaks for the water. Often, his canoe is his office as he patrols Maryland's Patuxent River. Tutman has served as the Patuxent Riverkeeper since leaving law school in 2004. A tireless advocate for the river, he grew up along its banks as did seven generations of his family before him. Since then, Tutman has dedicated his life to protecting the 110-mile river, winning awards and accolades for his efforts to protect and restore clean water in the Patuxent and its connected ecosystem.
