Just 50 years ago, Virginia City was a ghost town. By building on its history, folklore, using the entertainment contribution of Errol Flynn in “Virginia City”, Marilyn Monroe in “Misfits, TV’s “Bonanza” and of course the wonderful tall story telling of Mark Twain, leveraging and restoring all of its assets, and attracting major events, the city now attracts over 2 million people a year. This is a great marketing story.
