Dr. Jeff Hantman

Dr. Jeff Hantman is a professor of archaeology and the former director of the Archaeology Interdisciplinary Program at the University of Virginia. He received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Hantman has focused his research on Native American societies and cultures, most recently in the Chesapeake region of the eastern United States. He is concerned primarily with the early colonial period and constructing new histories based on a merger of archaeology, ethno-history and indigenous world-views.
