While attending a small village school in Northern Uganda, Grace Akallo, then 14 years old, was abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel soldiers, taken into the jungles, and marched into Sudan to be trained as a child soldier. She recounts her life of horror and hardship, particularly as a girl, and meeting Josef Kony, the notorious leader of the LRA, whose psychological tactics of instilling fear controlled children and adults alike.
