The two sides of aging – loss and freedom. Become a teen and resent your greater responsibilities, or relish your new freedoms, like a car. Become 40 and regret the loss of physical strength or beauty, or be relieved that you don’t have to prove that you’re macho or look perfect anymore. Become 70 and hate being hard of hearing, or rejoice that you can pretend deafness and just tune out what you don’t want to hear.
