It’s a very common scenario:
You struggled with some form of abuse. You don’t know how to deal with it. You can’t talk about it. The pain is so intolerable that you want to escape it. You want to numb out. Just like you did during the abuse. Since you can’t make it stop you figure you might as well “go away.”
So you try to eliminate yourself by numbing out through using alcohol, drugs, sex, or any number of things.
