The Bhopal Museum opened on December 2, 2014, on the thirty year anniversary of the world’s largest chemical disaster. The museum recounts the events that took place the day more than 500,000 residents were exposed to toxic gas and other chemicals leaked from the Union Carbide pesticide plant. But as Rama Lakshmi explains, this museum is not meant as a static memorial, but as an essential contribution to dialogue in a democratic society.
