For residents of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, coming across new construction projects in their neighborhoods is commonplace. But for the first time in recent history, the Bronx is getting its fair share of the action. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has pitched a plan to redevelop a nearby stretch of the waterfront that the city rezoned in 2009 for mixed-use development — a similar idea to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
