I met Nancy over 11 years ago when we were both members of a unique group at the Family Place in Dallas, TX. What made us different is that we didn't fit the societal stereotype of abused women. We were white with prominent and financially successful spouses. We were thought to be privileged, and no one entertained the possibility that abuse was the defining word for our marriages.
