February 9th 2016: The Costa Report Interviews Leroy Chiao
My guest this week is former NASA Commander of the International Space Center, Dr. Leroy Chiao. He’ll be here to talk about the race to make suborbital commercial flight affordable, and whether China has the upper hand.
Leroy Chiao is a former NASA astronaut, International Space Station commander, and engineering consultant. Dr. Chiao is a veteran of four space missions and has logged over 200 days in space, 37 of which were spent in extra vehicular activity (EVA, or spacewalks). In 2009, he served as a member of the White House-appointed Review of U.S. Human Spaceflight Plans Committee, and has received numerous awards including four NASA Space Flight Medals.
