Emotions can make life messy. They cloud judgment, skew reality, and short-circuit relationships. Although emotions are part of the human experience, expressing them in the workplace, especially for women, is still considered taboo. While evading emotions may cause you to lose the support and trust you need, “over emoting” might result in others perceiving you as “soft,” “difficult,” and unable to control your impulses.
