Philippe Sands, who will be talking to us from the UK, has prosecuted war criminals throughout the world for more than 20 years. He has led the fight against some of the most heinous acts of genocide in the Congo, Yugoslavia, Iran, Chile, Egypt, the Czech Republic, Turkmenistan, etc. He also sits on the sit on the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. While researching his latest book, East West Street: On The Origins of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity, Sands followed his grandfather’s roots back to the city of Lviv, in the western Ukraine.
