An earlier program dealt with the inclusion challenges of persons with deafness and those with mobility issues within sport, Today's program will also focus on inclusion and human rights in sport but with other variations of inclusion challenges. We will speak with three individuals who are utilizing policy innovation and activism to enhance progress for members of LGBTQ communities and people with diverse disabilities and human rights in sport globally.

Mary Hums, PhD

Mary A. Hums, PhD is a Professor of Sport Administration at the University of Louisville. In 2009, she was named a NASSM Earle F. Zeigler Lecturer, the organization’s most prestigious academic honor. In 2008, Hums was an Erasmus Mundus Visiting International Scholar at Katholische Universitat in Leuven, Belgium. In 2006, the USOC selected her to represent the US at the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece. She has worked numerous Paralympic and Olympic Games. Hums co-authored Article 30.5 of the 2006 UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. She authored over 100 refereed journal articles and book chapters and given over 200 presentations. Hudson Taylor

Hudson Taylor is Founder, and Executive Director of Athlete Ally. Taylor spreads his message of equality and inclusion through his role at Athlete Ally, his public speaking and his blog for Huffington Post. Hudson Taylor is a wrestling coach and prominent straight ally and activist for LGBT rights. He is a three-time NCAA All American and two-time NCAA Academic All American in wrestling. He wracked up the most pins and most wins in the history of Univ. Maryland wrestling. He is ranked among the Top 5 pinners in NCAA wrestling history and holds several Hall of Fame records. After graduation, he moved to become wrestling coach at Columbia University.

Eli Wolff

Eli Wolff co-founded and co-directs the Royce Fellowship for Sport and Society and the Sport Development Program at Brown University, as well as the Inclusive Sport Initiative at the Center for Inclusive Design. He has also designed a Power of Sport Platform, a new initiative to fuel and magnify the power of sport movement. From 2003-2006, Eli successfully led global efforts to include sport and recreation within the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities (CRPD). Eli was a member of the US Paralympic Soccer team in 1996 and 2004. He is a graduate of Brown University and pursuing his PhD in Sport Studies at the German Sport University in Cologne.
