Myeloproliferative neoplasms, -MPNs- are a group of blood cancers that cause the body to overproduce blood cells in the bone marrow due to genetic mutations originating in stem cells. Last year, only about 14,500 people in the United States were diagnosed with an MPN. Many people are often unaware that this group of cancers exist. Each year the Cancer Support Community strives to “shine the light on MPNs” and raise awareness of MPNs and the impact of living with a rare type of cancer. This year is no different.
